The demise of weak African elephant Noor Jehan, 17, at the Karachi Zoo has overwhelmed the web, with sorrowful netizens accusing "criminal carelessness" by the zoo's organization for the awful and "inopportune" passing of the creature.
Noor Jehan — who was going through treatment in the wake of falling into a lake inside her nook at the zoo seven days prior — died today.
"The elephant was debilitated with a fever since yesterday. Full scale endeavors were made to save her," Karachi Director Saif Ur Rehman said in an explanation regarding the creature who was experiencing a few medical problems throughout the previous a few days.
Conversing with writers, Karachi Zoo Chief Kanwar Ayub said the elephant — whose wellbeing was disintegrating since November last year — died at 11:15am today morning.
The zoo's chief added that the group from Four Paws were on the way to Pakistan, and they would play out a posthumous assessment on the 17-year-old's body.
"After the posthumous assessment, we will make a choice about her internment," he added.
